PGWP – Post Graduate Work Permit

Post Graduate Work Permit

Students having degrees/diplomas from specific study institutes can apply for a post-graduate work permit in Canada. However, an applicant may apply for a work visa within 180 days of graduation, or from the date she earned her certificate.

Students who receive a work permit in Canada after graduation are allowed to stay for up to three years. A postgraduate work permit in Canada moves candidates closer to permanent residency.

The Canadian Graduate Work Permit has experienced various adjustments throughout time. The finest example is the temporary work visa scheme for overseas students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This temporary work permit was issued around January 27, 2021, and has assisted around 52,000 applicants.
